About Us  The Lend A Helping Hand organization was developed in 2002 to assist individuals faced with a catastrophic illness or a life altering disease raise money to pay for uninsured medical costs.  The organization is seeking passionate volunteers with a strong desire to help people throughout the U.S.

Michelle Phaup, the Founder and Executive Director, is passionate about helping others. Her inspiration to organize fundraisers began when she organized a bowl-a-thon to raise money for Shannon Clark, a 12 year old girl who was diagnosed with cancer. The funds were given to Shannon to fulfill a few of her wishes before she passed. Since 1989, Michelle has raised more than $2,000,000 to help non-profit organizations and individuals pay for medical expenses. Michelle has served as a board member for many community and charitable organizations, such as, Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce, Clarkston Area Rotary Club, Children Are Precious, and Mid-Michigan Arthritis Foundation.

Testimonials

"I met Michelle in 1994 when my nephew, David, age 24, was diagnosed with leukemia.  My family was devastated when we heard the diagnosis.  David was unable to work and had no health insurance.  Michelle came to our aid by helping my family plan a bowl-a-thon to raise money for David's day to day needs.  Michelle met with my family weekly to help us organize what turned out to be a very successful fundraiser.  It was not just the money that helped our family and David at the time; it was knowing someone like Michelle who was willing to lend a helping hand when our world was turned upside down. Michelle is a constant source of inspiration.  Her resources are endless.  If she doesn't know how to help you, she knows someone who does. Michelle is someone who gives unselfishly every day toward the good of others.  She is an energetic volunteer and not just a spectator." Susan Welker - White Lake, MI
